Ferrari’s experimentation with the flap behind the exhaust has opened up an interesting technical direction. Alongside Haas, which runs the same rear mechanics as the Scuderia with a similar appendage for exhaust blowing, Williams is also exploring this territory.

Awaiting more substantial upgrades that will include a new chassis, the historic British team arrives in Miami with a novel solution. Through the following image, we can spot a sort of small monkey seat attached directly to the crash structure, right where the exhaust rests.

Although the appendage in question features different shapes and dimensions compared to the Ferrari flap, in this case too it serves to blow the combustion gases towards the wing to generate downforce. What is surprising is its extremely small size.
