Despite the difficulties encountered with the AMR 26, Adrian Newey introduced the most interesting innovation seen in Melbourne. A new, highly complex front wing designed to optimise the two different configuration modes provided (straight mode and cornering mode).

Both the main plane and the flaps have curved profiles, creating three sections that join at two points across the width of the wing.

Only the central portion (highlighted in yellow) is mobile and is designed to manage the flow of air along the sides of the bodywork, while the two outer parts tend to create an out-wash effect.

The end plate has also been completely redesigned, featuring an outward twist to further promote out-wash. The dive plane anchored to the outer surface has been confirmed. Finally, the shape of the foot plate is new, with the addition of a vertical flow diverter and a small fin at the end.
